CBS News Announces New Morning Show Hosts

CBS News has selected veteran anchor Adriana Diaz and business journalist Kelly O’Grady as the new co-hosts for its weekend morning program. The duo will officially begin their roles this week, replacing Michelle Miller and Dana Jacobson, who were part of recent company-wide staff reductions in October. These changes occurred before Bari Weiss assumed her role as editor in chief of CBS News.

The new hosting team will not only lead ‘CBS Saturday Morning’ but will also alternate as co-hosts of ‘CBS Mornings 24/7’, the network’s daily streaming platform program. They will work alongside featured host Vladimir Duthiers, expanding their presence across multiple CBS News platforms.

The announcement comes amid significant organizational shifts at CBS News, including controversial leadership changes and program restructuring under Weiss’s editorial direction.

Adriana Diaz’s Professional Background

Adriana Diaz, 42, has been a long-standing member of CBS News since 2012, with an extensive international and domestic reporting background. She previously served as a China-based correspondent covering Asian affairs and later reported from Chicago, demonstrating her versatility as a journalist.

Throughout her career at CBS, Diaz has held several prominent roles, including anchoring ‘CBS Weekend News’ and hosting the short-lived ‘CBS Mornings Plus’ program. She is also a frequent fill-in anchor for ‘CBS Mornings’, working alongside Gayle King, and is internally considered a potential successor as King approaches the final year of her contract.

Her extensive experience and adaptability have positioned her as a key talent within the CBS News organization, making her an ideal choice for the new morning show hosting role.

Kelly O’Grady’s Professional Journey

Kelly O’Grady, 34, is a recent addition to CBS News, joining the network in 2024 as a correspondent for the MoneyWatch unit. Prior to her CBS role, she worked as a correspondent and fill-in anchor at Fox Business, bringing significant business and economic reporting expertise to her new position.

In addition to her new co-hosting responsibilities, O’Grady will continue to focus on covering business, technology, and economic news for the network. Her background in financial journalism adds a unique perspective to the morning show format.

O’Grady’s appointment reflects CBS News’s commitment to diversifying its talent pool and bringing fresh perspectives to its morning programming.
